PHOTOS: Tanker detaches, goes up in flames and burns woman beyond recognition in Ibadan
A yet-to-be-identified woman lost her life to a fire incident that occurred as a result of tanker explosion in Ibadan on Wednesday.
The diesel tanker was said to have detached from a truck as it attempted to climb the Ologuneru hill in the area.
The detached tanker then crushed the Nissan car driven by the woman, before igniting huge fire.
The woman, who was reportedly the sole occupant of the car, was burnt beyond recognition.
Properties worth millions of naira were also burnt in the fire.
A witness, identified as Yinka, narrated the incident: “The articulated vehicle, which was filled with diesel, was coming from Eleiyele area and travelling towards Ologuneru hill. When the truck had difficulty dragging the tanker along the hill, the tanker detached from the truck and crushed the car driven by the dead woman. It also poured its content on the road a fire was ignited, burning the woman, who was trapped in the car and other vehicles.”
Yinka said more than five houses, as well as a church in the area, were destroyed in the inferno, as the diesel flowed about 300 meters away from the scene of the accident.

Firefighters from the Oyo State Fire Service reportedly arrived to put out the fire.
The burnt carcass of the woman was removed from the mangled car.
