Tuesday’s clash between members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) and the police in Wuse 2, Abuja, has led to the arrest of 400 suspects.

Police say the suspects were Shi’ites who were involved in hurling dangerous items and burning of a vehicle.

It is alleged that at least 31 bottles of petrol bomb made out of improvised explosive devices and other dangerous weapons were recovered from them.

The Shi’ites started what was intended to be a 3-day protest against the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, before things spiraled out of control.

Clashes with law enforcement in different parts of Abuja since Saturday has led to the death of at least six members of the group.

Police boss in the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Ciroma, said the suspects will be taken to court after investigations.
