“Pay N1bn ransom” – Abductors of 6 Lagos Model College students tell parents
The abductors of six pupils of Igbonla Model College, Epe, Lagos State, have reportedly demanded a 1bn ransom from their parents before they can be released.
The students were kidnapped at about 6am on Thursday, after some gunmen broke through the school’s fence.
The gunmen had reportedly written to the school, notifying them of the impending attack.
A total of ten students, all boys, were reportedly whisked into a waiting speeding boat, but four were released following a background check.
According to new reports, two of the abducted students’ parents, who were allowed to speak with them, were told to pay N400m each for their children.
Two other parents were told to raise N100m per child, reports say.
One parent said, “They allowed me to speak with my son. I asked him if he was fine and he said yes. They asked me to meet with the school authorities to raise N400m for my child to be released.”
The kidnappers were said to have told the parents to seek assistance from the government and the school’s authorities.
