Passengers Escape Unharmed as Max Air Flight Crash-Lands in Kano
Passengers aboard a Max Air flight from Lagos to Kano experienced a tense moment on Tuesday night when their aircraft crash-landed at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport. Fortunately, all passengers and crew safely disembarked without injuries.
According to reports, the aircraft lost a landing gear tyre upon touchdown, leading to the emergency landing at approximately 10:57 p.m. Emergency responders, including the airport fire service crew, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Max Air reassured the public that the incident was professionally handled, ensuring the safe evacuation of all onboard. The airline confirmed that the aircraft was removed from the runway by 4:28 a.m.
“As a result, the Kano runway will remain temporarily closed for inspection and clearance, which may lead to some delays in flight operations today, Wednesday, 29/01/2025,” the airline stated.
Max Air apologized for any inconvenience caused and thanked passengers for their patience. The airline also reaffirmed its engineering team’s expertise in handling such emergencies and promised timely updates on flight schedules.
However, in a separate statement, Tunde Moshood, special adviser on media and communications to Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Development, announced that the runway had since been reopened for normal operations.
