OSUN: Late Senator Adeleke’s family keep to their word, shun inquest into death
The family of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke have shunned the coroner inquest into his death by the Osun State government.
The inquest sitting began in Osogbo on Wednesday (today).
The political stalwart’s family had earlier said they are not interested in the inquest by Gov Rauf Aregbesola.
They labelled it a ‘kangaroo’ inquest, which would be filled with lies.
In attendance at the inquest, based on the summons issued by the coroner, were Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye; Executive Director of Biket Hospital, Dr. Adebisi Adenle, and Executive Secretary, Ede South Local Government, Mr. Johnson Ojo.
The coroner said the panel invited the family of the deceased but they refused to show up. He stated that they would issue another summon to make sure they are present during the sittings.
He said that the panel would not be able to take evidence because of logistic reasons and adjourned the case till May 15th to take the evidence.
Adeleke, who was the first civilian governor of Osun State, died at Biket Hospital in Osogbo on April 23.
