Osogbo residents discover corpse of policeman infront of filling station

There was confusion around Onibujesa area of Osogbo, Osun State on Wednesday following the discovery of the corpse of a policeman identified as Sunday Adejumo in front of a filling station in the area.

Adejumo, who was found dead in mufti, was later discovered to be a policeman from the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 11 Headquarters located on Gbogan-Osogbo Road in Osogbo.

Some residents of the area told our correspondent that the body of the policeman was discovered early Wednesday morning and residents contacted the headquarters of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, after which officers from the NSCDC command went to the scene to evacuate the body.

Residents said they saw the deceased on Tuesday at the sawmill.

They claimed that he went to the sawmill to buy some planks and that he was expected to return to the place to take them.

One of the residents who identified himself as Samuel said, ” Some persons contacted the Civil Defence and they sent their officers to the scene to evacuate the corpse of the man.

” The man was dressed in a shirt and trousers and was found early this morning by those who went out at that time.

A phone, an ATM card and a wristwatch were found on him.

“The NSCDC officials came and discovered that the man was a policeman and they contacted the police.”

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Mr. Agboola Glover-Osodi, when contacted, confirmed the death.

Asked if any arrest has been made in connection with the incident, the AIG said the police force was not suspecting any foul play yet.

He said, “What they told us was that it was as a result of a medical condition. They were not suspecting any foul play for now. That is what they made us to understand; but the detailed report is not yet out.”

It may be recalled that residents of the same area on the Iwo-Ibadan Highway had, in May 2017, discovered a headless body close to where the body of the policeman was found.
