Organ Harvesting: Ike Ekweremadu jailed for 9 years, wife handed 4 years
Nigeria’s former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has been sentenced to 9 years and 8 months in jail, while his wife Beatrice was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months.
Their doctor Obinna Obeta was sentenced to 10 years in jail.
They were sentenced at the Old Bailey Criminal Court in London on Friday May 5, 2023, after being found guilty of exploiting a vulnerable victim for illegal organ harvesting.
A Neusroom correspondent who was present at the court reports that their children including Sonia and other family members who were also in court were left devastated after the couple were sentenced around 2pm.
