Obasanjo, Atiku shake hands again after long-standing feud
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may have buried the hatchet years after falling out.
Both influential politicians, who have not been on friendly terms for a long time, were pictured shaking hands at an event in a hotel in Abuja today. They also sat on the same table at the event, according to Atiku’s aide.
Obasanjo once said “over his dead body” would Atiku become President of Nigeria.
Atiku is vying for his party’s nomination ticket for the 2019 presidential election, and Obasanjo has fallen out with Buhari and APC after being very critical of his government.
The Ota native infamously tore up his party’s membership card, months leading to the 2015 general elections, a move which many believed aided Buhari’s victory over Goodluck Jonathan.
Does this seeming parley between Obasanjo and Atiku have any significance?
