Obama hails “heroic” teen who died shielding three girls from gunfire
Zaevion Dobson, 15, was just chilling with friends on a porch in Knoxville, Tennessee, last week, when several men went on a shooting spree.
But instead of taking off, Dobson sheilded the three girls next to him. He was shot in the head.
“If it wasn’t for Zaevion, if he would have just ran off the porch, we would have probably been shot,” one of the girls told Local 8 Now.
All three of them survived.
23-year-old Brandon Perry who led the shooting spree was later found to have been shot after he crashed a car into an apartment. He died from his injuries, Friday morning, police say.
Dobson’s actions did not go unnoticed by the United States’ President Barack Obama.
He praised Dobson’s bravery on twitter:
Zaevion Dobson died saving three friends from getting shot. He was a hero at 15. What's our excuse for not acting? https://t.co/hn98uGsjKZ
