“O.D.O.O Is My Favorite Fela Song”- Femi Kuti

Music legend and son to the king of Afrobeat, Femi Kuti has revealed his all-time favorite song by Fela to be “Overtake Don Overtake, Overtake”.

“The horn arrangement, the melody of ‘Overtake Don Overtake, Overtake’ is fantastic. He talked about previously recorded songs on O.D.O.O. Fela was at a peak of a peak when he recorded the song”, Femi remarked.

Although Femi Kuti shared his admiration for Fela’s “Coffin for Head of State”, he insisted that “O.D.O.O.”, recorded with the Egypt 80 band, is his all-time favorite of all his father’s songs.

This comes just a few days to the world famous festival, Felabration wherein millions of Nigerians will come together to celebrate the life and times of Nigeria’s foremost musical legend, the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

The annual festival, which kicks off on Monday, October, 9 will run for one week and end on Sunday, October 15; which coincides with Fela’s birthday. This year’s festival is themed “The Prophecy”.
