Corps Members to Earn N77,000 in February 2025 as NYSC Implements New Minimum Wage
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that Corp members will start receiving N77,000 from February 2025.
The announcement was made on Thursday while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina. General Ahmed confirmed that the pay rise has been factored into the 2025 Federal Government budget and will be implemented once the budget is passed.
“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he assured the corps members.
The increase represents a 133% jump from the current stipend of N33,000, and was made to reflect the new minimum wage of N70,000 which was signed into law by President Bola Tinubu in July last year.
Beyond financial support, Brigadier General Ahmed reiterated the NYSC’s dedication to corps members’ safety. He assured them that they would not be deployed to areas with serious security threats, emphasizing that their well-being remains a priority.
“We will not send our corps members to wherever we have challenges or security threats. Wherever we send them, they should be assured that the place is safe and secured for them to serve,” he stated.
