NYSC Nullifies Certificates of 101 UniCal Graduates
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that it has nullified the certificates issued to 101 graduates from the University of Calabar.
This disclosure was made in a statement signed by NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, on Monday.
According to the body, the graduates were fraudulently mobilized between the service years of 2021-2023.
The persons-issued certificates, along with two others granted exemption, have all been nullified.
Megwa noted that unaccredited schools are not recognized, asserting that only those who qualify will be issued the corp certificates.
“This is to inform members of the public that the under-listed ninety-nine (99) individuals, along with two (2) others granted an exemption, were fraudulently mobilised by the University of Calabar for National Service during 2021, 2022, and 2023 NYSC Service Years.
“The Management of the National Youth Service Corps hereby reiterates its strong commitment to ensuring that unqualified Nigerian youths, whether locally or foreign-trained, especially those purported to have graduated from unaccredited universities, are not recognised, and that only qualified persons are issued Certificates of National Service.”
“As a result, the Certificates of National Service of the under-listed individuals have been invalidated forthwith by the corps’ Management,” the statement read in part.
NYSC has, therefore, urged the public to take note of this circular and act accordingly.
“Members of the public, especially Corps Employers, Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Corporate and Religious Organisations, Multi-National Companies, Corps Producing Institutions, and other critical stakeholders, are advised to take note of this advertorial for prompt action.
Additionally, members of the public are also encouraged to verify the authenticity of Certificates of National Service, Exemption, and Exclusion Letters presented for any purpose with the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja,” the statement ended.
