Nightmare for America as Edward Snowden joins Twitter
The guy who exposed how the United States spies on her citizens, and the entire planet, has joined Twitter.
It seems Edward Snowden will now spy on the social media activities of America’s National Security Agency (NSA), the only account @Snowden follows.
Right on his profile Snowden says:
I used to work for the government. Now I work for the public.
The @Snowden account attracted more than a quarter of a million followers within two hours of going live, Tuesday.
Twitter took no time in verifying the account within the same time frame.
Over 973,000 tweeps now follow @Snowden…well, that was the estimate the last time we checked.
In 2013, Snowden fled to Russia after leaking US spying secrets to the media. He’s believed to be living in Moscow.
His action caused the US serious diplomatic embarrassment with some calling the former CIA employee a “traitor.”
Others called him a hero who followed his conscience.
If he returns to the US, he could be arrested, prosecuted and jailed for up to 30 years.
Snowden would probably not return home as he had expressed fears he would be unfairly tried.
“The only thing they’ve said at this point was that they would not execute me,” Snowden said after fleeing the US.
“That’s not quite the same thing as agreeing to a fair and open trial,” he said.
At any rate, the NSA now has one more stalker spy to worry about…on Twitter.
