Nigerians stranded as police “kidnap” 2017 budget
When it comes to Nigeria and governance and politics, it is always a thrilling thriller.
The Nigerian 2017 budget that is long overdue to be passed has just had another setback.
According to Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Danjuma Goje:
The police truncated work on the 2017 budget by the invasion of my house.
He claimed that when the police invaded his house, they carted away some money and a laptop containing key documents regarding the 2017 budget.
“I don’t know if the police are now working on the budget,” he added.
But in a statement released early Thursday by police spokesperson Moshood Jimoh, the Force said Goje’s claim was misleading and deliberately made to cast the police in bad light.
The question is: did the police “kidnap” the 2017 budget or not?
Recall 2016 “budget of change” was “padded”. Now…the 2017 “budget of growth and economic recovery” has apparently been kidnapped by the police!
