Nigerian doctors invade venue of recruitment for immigrant doctors by Saudi officials
A large number of Nigerian doctors flooded the venue of recruitment for immigrant doctors that was organized in Lagos by officials from Saudi Arabia over the weekend.
The exercise which was held at a renowned hotel in Ikeja GRA in Lagos saw officials from the Saudi Arabian ministry of health conduct tests to choose from the crowd of doctors who came out for the recruitment.
It has become commonplace for countries like the United States, UK, Saudi Arabia and even Canada to recruit Nigerian-trained doctors to fill up deficits of medical professionals in their countries.
These recruitments usually work out because of the state of the health sector in Nigeria. Many Nigerian doctors are always frustrated and willing to leave the country in search of greener pastures overseas as the situation in the country keeps deteriorating.
This development further adds to the amount of brain drain that Nigeria battles with as it struggles to keep medical talents in the country.
Successful participants of the exercise are expected to be recruited as doctors practicing at various hospitals in Saudi Arabia.
