#NigeriaDecides2019: Udom Emmanuel of PDP re-elected as Akwa Ibom state governor

Udom Emmanuel of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and the incmbent governor of Akwa Ibom state has been re-elected for a second term in office.
He scored a total number of 519,712 votes against his closest rival, Obong Nsima Ekere of APC who polled 171,978 vote.
Emmanuel was declared winner of the gubernatorial election by the INEC Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Faraday Osarere Orumwense.
Declaring the result, Prof. Orumwense stated that “Udom Emmanuel of the PDP having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, I hereby declare Udom Emmanuel the winner and returned elected”.
The APC has rejected the outcome of the election.
