Nigeria High Commission in London unable to pay salaries, sacks 50 staff

The Nigerian High Commission London has hinted that it is going through budgetary constraint in a letter of dismissal handed to about 50 staff of the Mission.

Although the letter is dated November 22, 2018, the Commission inferred that the termination of employment took effect on January 1, 2018.

The organization said it was going through a process of restructuring due to budgetary constraint which has left it with no choice than to disengage some members of staff.

The affected staff have expressed dismay and disappointment over the issue. They accused the commission of sacking them in order to evade paying them their outstanding one year salary which they’ve been making demands for.

“We want the World to see how we are been ill-treated just because we asked for our salaries. This is so unfair and an injustice to democratic rule,” one of the sacked agent lamented.
