#NECLive8: Learn To Separate Business From Friendship – Idris Olorunnimbe, Founder Of Temple Management Company
Idris Olorunnimbe, founder of the talent agency known as Temple Management Company, has urged Nigerian artists and media practitioners to learn the art of separating business from friendship.
Olorunnimbe, who is also a board member at the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), stated this at the 8th edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive), Nigeria’s biggest gathering of media and entertainment stakeholders, which was held on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
“Let your friends be your friends”, he explained. “You need to learn to separate business and friendship. People mix it successfully, but there are more people who get burnt from it than people who succeed. Your friends can be your moral compass, and keep you grounded and advise you, however, it’s different when it comes to business. If you engage your lawyer friend to represent you in business, he may end up not being the best lawyer for you; he might overvalue or undervalue you.”
Olorunnimbe, 42, established the Temple Management Company in 2016 to project the best Nigerian talents in art, media, entertainment, and sports to the rest of the world. In its first few years, the management company worked with the Mavin Crew; writer Victor Ehikhamenor; television personality Funmi Iyanda; producer Biyi Bandele, and Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artiste Lekan Babalola.
