N7.2m Fraud: EFCC arraigns man for reneging on agreement to buy car

The EFCC, today, June 5, arraigned one Oladejo Sherif before Justice Akintola of the Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, on one-count charge of fraud to the tune of N7.2 million.

Sherif was accused of stealing the sum from a total sum of N15 million which was given to him by his victim Adebowale Adesiyan to purchase vehicles last February.

Sherif pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor prayed the court to remand the defendant in prison custody.

The defense counsel, Hammed Opasola informed the court that he has no written application for bail but prayed the court to allow him make an oral application for bail.

Justice Akintola however refused the defense’s oral application and ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending the filing and hearing of his bail application.

The case is however adjourned to 18 September, 2018 for trial.
