Africa’s largest storyteller, MultiChoice, has restated its commitment to the development of the continent’s creative industry, especially in the face of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company stated this at a virtual media conference held Friday January 29, 2021 to announce a price slash on its DStv and GOtv decoders.

While discussing the company’s plans to help Nigerians navigate the pandemic in 2021, the Chief Customer Officer at MultiChoice Nigeria, Martin Mabutho, said the company understands the difficulties the pandemic poses for creatives in the country, and like in 2020 when they committed a N400 million relief fund to the creative industry, the company will continue to do all in its power to support these creatives.

He went on to say that “due to the pandemic, other production houses have laid people off, slashed salaries and cut productions, but last week, MultiChoice still released her 3000th production of Tinsel. At Multichoice, we never stop production.”

Mabutho also affirmed that Multichoice will not cut salaries or stop production, while reiterating that anyone who has been a part of any MultiChoice production process will receive full payments.

He took the time to acknowledge those who have made immense contributions during this period, including the directors, producers, scriptwriters, etc. According to him, “we understand that our strength as a business comes from them.

“MultiChoice rides on the shoulders of these great men and women that think about the plot twists and how millions of Nigerians and Africans need to stay entertained in these trying times.”
