Costa Rica 2022: MTN eyes World Cup victory for Falconets after 11-0 rout of CAR in qualifiers

Following the Falconets 11-0 rout (on aggregate) of Central African Republic in the 2022 FIFA Under-20 Women World Cup qualifier, MTN Nigeria has said it will continue to cheer the Nigerian female football team to victory with hopes that they join the elite list of winners of the tournament which has just the USA, Germany, Japan and Korea DPR.

The Falconets thrashed the Central African Republic 4-0 in the second leg of their World Cup qualifiers at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Wednesday.

This is coming just 10 days after the Falconets thrashed CAR 7-0 in the first leg played in Douala.

The Falconets now progress to the third round after winning 11-0 on aggregate as they look forward to securing their ticket to the tournament which will be hosted by Costa Rica from August 10  – 28, 2022.

MTN Nigeria was present at the stadium to cheer and motivate the Falconets to victory. The telecom company also provided Y’ello gears and other MTN products to the fans to boosst their morale as they support the home team.

MTN Nigeria said it will continue to cheer the Falconets to victory with hopes that they join the past four winners of the competition which includes the USA, Germany, Japan and Korea DPR.

In September, MTN Nigeria announced its partnership with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) making them the official communications sponsor of the national teams. This will see the company boost the national teams’ activities, including the national men’s team (Super Eagles), the Men’s Under 20 Team, the National Under-23 Team (the Dream Team), the National Under-15 (the Future Eagles), the National Futsal Team, the National Women Team (the Super Falcons), the National Female Under-20 team (the Falconets), and the National Women Under-17 Team (the Flamingos).

Speaking on MTN Nigeria’s long-lasting support for the girls, MTN Chief Executive Officer; Olutokun Toriola said “MTN’s support for Nigerian football is not recent. We have always been there supporting football in various segments of the Nigerian society – from grassroots football to the World Cup in 2010 and the national league because, Football is a national sport, uniting Nigerians across tribal, religious, and status lines, and providing engagement and excitement for millions of fans.”
