Mixed reactions trail Buhari’s 2019 budget presentation at National Assembly
December 19, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari arrived the National Assembly Wednesday afternoon to mixed reactions from lawmakers inside the chamber.
Buhari presented the 2019 budget to a joint sitting of the upper chamber and the House of Representatives.
While some lawmakers chanted Buhari’s name as he made his entrance into the chamber, others booed him.
Buhari went on to address the lawmakers, and his claim that his administration is making progress in the fight against corruption was also booed by a section of the chamber.
During the rowdy session, shouts of ‘lies, propaganda’, ‘grass cutter’, could be heard as the President gave his speech. He was prompted to caution the noisy lawmakers to comport themselves as they were live on national TV.
