Man stabs boss to death over unpaid salary
Adewale Adegoroye was unaware that the man he stabbed with a knife on Wednesday morning had died.
He had been arrested for stabbing Akin Akinmulero, the manager of Ondo Multipurpose Cooperative Union, during a fight.
When the Ondo State Police Command paraded suspected armed robbers and other criminals on Thursday, Adewale asked to be separated from them. He claimed his offence was minor.
That was when he was told his victim had died from the knife wounds.
The state police boss, Gbenga Adeyanju, said Adewale snatched the sum of N700,000 from the victim after stabbing him.
The victim was said to have been rushed to the State Specialist Hospital where he later died.
A shocked Adewale told newsmen that the deceased was his boss who he started working with last September. He said he was being owed and when he learnt that the man was going to the bank to collect money, he went to block him.
Adewale claimed that when he met the deceased to demand for part of his money, the man refused, prompting a fight.
He said he collected the money from the deceased after stabbing him with a knife and was set to flee the scene when he was apprehended by eyewitnesses.
The suspect pleaded for mercy, claiming he attacked his boss because of hunger and didn’t mean to kill him.
