Police in Abuja have nabbed a taxi driver, Sikiru Lamidi, for allegedly killing a former Nigerian ambassador to South Africa.

Lamidi allegedly killed the ambassador, Ngam Nwachukwu at his Villa Nova residence in Apo, last November.

Nwachukwu, according to investigators, boarded Lamidi’s taxi and complained of his faulty car. Lamidi was said to have offered to help the ambassador repair the faulty car and visited his apartment the following day.

That was when he allegedly pounced on Nwachukwu, who lived alone. He stabbed his victim in the neck repeatedly with a scissors.

An investigator said Lamidi proceeded to steal “the plasma television and home theatre set in the apartment and went away with the deceased Lexus SUV which he sold for N1.480million to one Femi Adeyemi with forged documents.”
