Man brutalized by thugs over campaign billboards in Rivers risks losing eye
Thugs destroying campaign billboards in Oyinbo area of Rivers state, have reportedly damaged the eye of a man who confronted them as they went about dismantling APC billboards.
Emeka Ihu, the Rivers youth leader of APC is said to have been attacked as he approached the suspected political thugs who were destroying a billboard displaying Gift Okere, the APC House of Representatives candidate for Oyigbo-Tai-Eleme Federal Constituency in the outskirts of Port Harcourt.
Although the identity of the thugs are unknown, there are speculations that one ‘Mr No Case’ will have knowledge about such activities in his domain. It wasn’t clear if any particular party was responsible for sponsoring the destruction of the billboards.
In fact, some youths have argued that the billboards were not destroyed by thugs but by heavy rain that fell in the weekend. They believed Emeka Ihu was brutalized by hoodlums who battered him for resisting to part with his belongings when they wanted to rob him; and being drunk at the time, he could not recall the event.
The police was not on hand to confirm the situation, but it was disclosed that Emeka is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital and is at risk of losing his eye.
