Man assaults IKEDC staff attempting to disconnect his electricity over N200,000 debt

A 48-year old driver, Isaac Alegbe, was arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrates Court in Lagos for allegedly beating up a staff of the Ikeja Distribution Company (IKEDC) and destroying a ladder owned by the company.

Police prosecutor, Godwin Awase, told the court that Alegbe committed the offence on September 12 at his house in Ojokoro, Ijaiye, Lagos.

He was said to have attacked the staff who wanted to disconnect his power supply for owing N200,000.

“After the complainant struggled to crawl down from the pole, the accused descended on him through beating, which made him sustain injuries on his body,” Awase said.

“The accused also damaged the official ladder, a property of IKEDC.”
