Man arrested for beating landlord’s wife, son in Lagos

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday how a 27-year-old tenant pounced on his landlord’s wife and son in the Dopemu, Agege area of Lagos.

The suspect, a businessman identified as Aliyu Mohammed is being tried for assault.

Prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, said that Aliyu committed the offences on August 3 at his residence.

Ogu said that Aliyu and two others conspired to brutalise the wife and son of Kehinde Onatayo, his landlord.

“The accused brought his friends to the house to assault the complainant’s wife, Mrs Eunice Onatayo and his son, Mr Akinkum Onatayo.

“Mohammed earlier had a disagreement with the complainant; he came home with his accomplices to deal with him, but did not meet him, instead he descended on his family through beating.The accused severely caused injuries on their bodies,” he said.

He said that Kehinde reported Mohammed to the police and he was arrested.

Mohammed pleaded not guilty to the offences and was granted N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Mrs Adegun, the Magistrate, adjourned to October 4 for hearing.
