21-year-old chef slits female lawyer’s throat in Lagos hotel

Police have arrested a 21-year-old chef who allegedly murdered a female lodger at a hotel in Opebi, Ikeja area of Lagos.

The suspect, Joshua Usulor, was said to have gruesomely murdered 34-year-old Feyitayo Obot, a lawyer, in his bid to rob her in the room she lodged in.

Feyitayo was stabbed and her throat was slit by the attacker while putting up a resistance to the attack.

Lagos police spokesperson Chike Oti said on Monday that Usulor made away with Feyitayo’s phone and a N26,000 sum during the crime.

Usulor fled to a hideout in Victoria Island where he was eventually caught on Thursday, February 28 – a month after he allegedly committed the crime.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have committed the crime. He said he never knew the victim before and only wanted to rob her to offset his own hotel bills because he had spent two days above what he paid for,” Oti said.
