‘Let’s team up to put broken pieces together’ – Bola Tinubu tells opposition candidates amid call for poll cancellation

Why NPC hold Peace Accord for Presidential candidates

Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu has extended an olive branch to his opponents in the 2023 presidential election, calling on them to team up with him to build the nation together.

Tinubu made the appeal to his opponents in his acceptance speech as Nigeria’s president-elect in the early hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2023, amid calls by his three top opponents Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP, for the cancellation of the result of the election citing irregularities and manipulation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) around 4 am on Wednesday, declared Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the hotly contested presidential election with 8,794,726 votes.

Appealing to his fellow contestants, the president-elect said, “let us team up together, it is the only nation we have, it is one country, and we must build together, work together to put broken pieces together.”

He added: “We must work for the unity happiness and harmony. We must not act like that orchestra that has no direction of a conductor.

“We have elected a conductor named President-elect, let’s collaborate to create that symphony that will make the rhythm of music, prosperity and history for our country.

“We have what it takes and needed. Knowledge, creativity, the mind, determination. We are in the same country, performing wonders in other countries.”

He also assured Nigerians that they would get reward for their confidence in him and appreciated members of his party – APC for enduring the cashless policy.

INEC has it will present the certificate of return to Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima by 3 pm on Wednesday at the National Collation Centre in Abuja.
