LAUTECH Strike: Ajimobi and Aregbesola bow to pressure, school to reopen
January 24, 2017
After the closure of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (Lautech) for 8 months, students of the institution can heave a sigh of relief as academic activities are set to resume.
The closure of the school spiraled into several protests and controversies, notably Ajimobi’s demand of respect for constituted authority from the students.
LAUTECH Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Suleiman Gbadegeshin said on Monday that Osun and Oyo State governments had paid a sum of N500 million to settle the salary arrears owed workers.
Both owner states paid N250 million each, Gbadegeshin revealed while appearing before the State House of Assembly to defend the university’s N9.9 billion budget for 2017.
Students are expected to resume on January 27.
