Oyo: Governor Ajimobi under fire for disrespecting LAUTECH students

Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi has urged Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) students to “show a little respect for constituted authority”.

But many say as respect is reciprocal, Ajimobi shouldn’t reap where he didn’t sow.

After the governor was booed while addressing the student on the issue, he flared up calling some of the students “disrespectful”.

He spoke in Yoruba language shouting at the students to “go do your worst and we’ll be waiting for you”.

Watch…

Nigerians have condemned the governor accusing him of failing to respect the plight of the students who have been off school since June 9, 2016. That’s about eight months. Ajimobi said it’s “JUST eight months”.

“This is disgraceful,” a NewsroomNG reader commented on Instagram. “How can the head of a state speak like this to people who voted for him? Nigerian leaders don’t know the meaning of serving the people”.

Others posted comments we couldn’t publish for legal reasons. One called him “bastard governor”.

Others took to Twitter to lash out at the Ajimobi.
