LASU Registrar cautions lecturers, students against sexual harassment, cultism
The newly appointed Registrar of the Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Mr Mohammed Amuni, has said the university abhors sexual harassment of students by any member of staff – either academic or non-academic.
Amuni said any staff with a proven case of sexual harassment on whatever pretense against any female student of the university would be dismissed from service.
“The university management is particularly frowning not only at sexual assault but also at other serious criminal activities such as cultism and exam malpractice and therefore would not hesitate to sanction, in accordance with the law, whoever that is established to be indulged in any of them,” he said.
He pointed out that LASU encourages whistle-blowing policy and protects whistle-blowers’ identities, and at the same time, ensure that every stakeholder in the university community including the students is protected under the rules and regulations guiding their conducts.
