LASG removes battered pedestrian bridge at Fadeyi bus stop

The Lagos state government has removed the battered pedestrian bridge at Fadeyi bus stop, Ikorodu road.

Hitherto the pedestrian bridge at Fadeyi, the bus-stop( popularly called Total or Agip bustop) has been battered and in that dilapidated state, people cross this bridge every day, beggers and sellers also spend hours there.

The atttention of Lagos state government has been called many times to the dilapidated bridge that was already vibrating, The bridge pose great danger to pedestrians; there were signs on the wall that possibility of death and loss of lives was imminent

Now that the bridge has been removed and there is hope of the bridge being replaced as soon as possible.

There is a need for a bridge preventive maintenance plan which will extend the life of Lagos bridges.

The goal of a bridge preventive maintenance plan is to correct minor structural defects early on Lagos bridges to extend the life of bridges across Lagos state.

Allowing deficiencies to worsen over time accelerates the need for full replacement, which is far more expensive, time consuming and disruptive to communities.
