Lagos to hold art exhibition in late Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi’s honour

Lagos State is set to host an art exhibition in honour of late industrialist and a former Minister of National Planning, Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi, who died on November 16 at the age of 72.

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode made this known on Thursday during a state reception at the Lagos House in Ikeja in honour of the late economist who was, until his death, a staunch art enthusiast.

The art exhibition, described as a first of its kind in Lagos, has been inspired by the late Gbadamosi’s love for art and would take place in January 2017, according to Ambode.

The Governor added that the art exhibition will be used as a springboard to promote art with more intensity in the state, by bringing the old and young together to create a framework for youths’ engagement.

Ambode hailed Gbadamosi’s selfless service to the state, particularly his role as the Co-chairman of the ‘Lagos at 50 Celebration Committee’, calling him one of the founding fathers of modern Lagos who will be sorely missed.

He said Gbadamosi’s contribution to the growth of Lagos State would always be cherished by the government and the people of Lagos.
