Lagos govt teases commencement of 5000 luxurious buses’ operation
The Lagos State government has said it is set to increase the number of luxurious buses under the Bus Reform Initiative to 5000.
Over 800 high and medium capacity buses have been acquired so far but are yet to begin operation.
The high capacity buses will take as many as 70 passengers while the medium capacity buses will take 30.
The government initially said months ago that the buses will begin operation this March, but that is not looking likely as some major roads and bus stops in the state are still under construction.
The initiative is expected to ease out the popular commercial yellow buses which contribute to the rowdiness on the roads.

Lagos residents have also expressed hope that the commencement of the buses’ operation would reduce the terrible traffic situation being experienced daily.
No new date has been set for commencement of operation.
