Lagos creates diversion routes to ease traffic ahead of Buhari’s campaign

The Lagos state government has announced that it has created 18 diversion routes to ease traffic congestion during President Buhar’s re-election campaign in Lagos.

Speaking on the planned campaign tour of the president in the state, the Chairman of Transport Committee on APC Presidential Campaign, Mr Demola Seriki, said that adequate provisions are being made to ensure that there will be free flow of traffic throughout the duration of the event.

Buhari is expected to hold a rally at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Surulere on Saturday, which will include a courtesy visit to the palace of Oba of Lagos and other key stop-overs along the way.

The routes that will be affected include; Surulere and its environs, International Airport Road, Oshodi/Oworonshoki Expressway, Marina Road, Third Mainland Bridge, Ikorodu Road, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Obalende, Yaba and its environs, Agege Motor Road, Apapa Road, among others.

Mr Seriki disclosed that more than 100,000 supporters of Buhari are expected to attend the rally where the president will share his plans for the people if he’s re-elected in the forthcoming election.

He further said that 500 LASTMA officers and 150 Federal Road Safety Corps will join the police and the State Security service to offer security and manage traffic during the rally. He sought for the residents’ understanding and cooperation.
