Lagos: 3 reportedly killed in Mushin gang war
Suspected gangsters from Akala and Alamutu areas of Mushin are at war.
At least three people were killed after gangs clashed in the area on Monday and the day before, reports say.
Some residents were reportedly caught, and injured, in the fight. Reports quoted “fearful” residents who heard heavy gunshots as the battle for gang supremacy raged on.
Police said they responded to distress calls from the area and recovered one body.
Sources say Alamutu hoodlums invaded Akala. The “invaders” were reportedly holding a candle light procession for a late bus conductor when they were attacked by their counterparts from Akala.
Both gangs used broken bottles, machete, sticks and bullets on each other before police restored order.
“The two groups used to be together until the Alamutu boys pulled out,” a witness identified as Awoko said.
“They used to form a gang to fight other people around Mushin and Somolu but the Alamutu boys complained about not being ‘properly settled ‘during sharing of money and other things ” the witness.
