Kogi Showdown: Police IG dismisses CP over disappearance of Dino Melaye’s alleged political thugs
Heads are beginning to roll in Kogi state over the disappearance of suspected political thugs from police custody.
Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has ordered the immediate removal of Ali Janga, the Commissioner of Police in the state.
Two suspects, Kabir Saidu and Nuhu Salisu, who accused Senator Dino Melaye of being their godfather, had managed to escape from police custody early Wednesday morning.
Janga had said today that Saidu and five other suspects possibly escaped with the help of the Special anti-robbery squad assigned to guard them.
Idris also redeployed the Commander, Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the state.
Also affected in the reshuffle are the Divisional Police Officer ‘A’ Division, Lokoja and other police officers implicated in the suspects’ escape.
IG of Police said the officials are being punished for negligence, dereliction of duty and gross misconduct.
Idris in a statement by the police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, explained that the policemen are all facing serious disciplinary action.
