Key facts you need to know as Premier League sets to return
The 2019-20 Premier League season moved a step closer to resuming this week when the British government announced that professional sport can resume when their lockdown regulations are relaxed.
No set date for the resumption of the English top-flight has yet been set but Premier League officials, clubs and managers are set to work on the issue in the coming days and a timeline should reveal itself sooner rather than later.
“We have protocols created and reviewed, we have a testing company appointed, but the important consultation with players and managers is the next step,” said Premier League CEO Richard Masters. “No decisions will be made until after we have talked to players and managers and those meetings are scheduled for later this week.”

– The last Premier League match was played on Monday 9 March 2020 and saw Leicester City claim a 4-0 win over Aston Villa at King Power Stadium. As of Wednesday 13 May, that means the league has been stopped for 65 days and counting.
– There have been 784 goals scored in the 2019-20 season, at an average of 2.72 per match. The 2018-19 campaign had 1072 goals at an average of 2.82 per match.
– There are 92 matches still to be played in the 2019-20 Premier League season.
– Leaders Liverpool holds a 25-point lead over nearest chasers Manchester City and looks destined to win their first league title since 1990.
– Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has won five of the seven Manager of the Month awards given out this season, reflecting Liverpool’s dominance of the Premier League.
– Jamie Vardy tops the scoring charts with 19 goals, ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (17), Sergio Aguero and Mohamed Salah (16 each).
– There have been eight hat-tricks so far this Premier League season. Two of them arrived in the same match, with both Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy scoring three goals in Leicester City’s 9-0 away win over Southampton. The Foxes’ victory over the Saints is the biggest win of the season so far, the highest-scoring match and equalled Manchester United’s 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995 as the biggest win in Premier League history.
– Liverpool had put together a run of 27 unbeaten league matches this season before that record was ended by Watford, who ironically have the longest winless run of the campaign with 11 matches.
– Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne is way out ahead in the assists chart, teeing up 16 goals for teammates so far this season.
– Burnley’s Nick Pope has kept 11 clean sheets, the most of any goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.
