Kano: “Jay Jay Okocha” stabs motherless SSS2 student to death
A 23-year-old student of Mohammed Vice Adamu Secondary School, Fagge, Kano was reportedly stabbed to death by a mobster on Saturday.
The assailants were said to have attacked Rabiu Dan Maraya, an SSS2 student, following his refusal to give them money on his way from school.
Rabiu was reportedly trailed to a corner by an assailant identified as Jay Jay Okocha and another unnamed accomplice, who allegedly stabbed him three times in the back.
Sympathisers reportedly rushed the victim to a nearby hospital but it was too late as he had lost much blood. He was pronounced dead before arrival by authorities of the medical centre he was rushed for treatment.
The suspect, Jay Jay Okocha, was subsequently arrested and taken to Fagge Police Division, where he was briefly detained. Reports say he had been charged to court for prosecution.
Rabiu’s guardian, Samaila Gambo Fagge, said the student had been living with him since his mother died a few years ago.
“I was shocked and devastated when the sad news was broken to me,” Samaila is quoted as saying.
The deceased’s remains had been deposited at the mortuary pending the conclusion of investigations.
Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majiya, disclosed that investigations have commenced into the case, assuring that justice will be done.
