JusticeForOchanya: Little girl raped by lecturer, son buried amid tears in Benue
Little Ochanya Obaje has been buried amid tears and curses at her hometown, Ogene Amejo in Benue State, on Friday.
Ochanya, aged thirteen, died on October 17, from complications she suffered after she was severally raped by a Benue State Polytechnic lecturer, Andrew Ogbuja, and his son, Victor.
Andrew and Victor were said to have began raping her since she moved in to live with the family aged 8. She was later diagnosed of Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) and other health complications due to constant vaginal and anal penetration by her abusers.
Ogbuja was first arraigned before a Makurdi Upper Area Court for the crime in August 2018 and remanded in prison, while Victor remains at large.
The lecturer’s next court appearance is on November 29, and concerned rights activists across the country have been demanding justice for Ochanya.
