JUST IN: Samuel Ogundipe regains freedom after 3 days in detention
Detained Premium Times journalist, Samuel Ogundipe has finally regained his freedom after spending three days in police custody.
Ogundipe had been arrested Tuesday afternoon over a report police say was “classified information”. He had been told to disclose his source for the report.
He was arraigned in court with proper legal representatives a day after, while his bank account was reportedly seized.
Several public and private organisations had called for release, labelling his arrest and detention an abuse of human rights.
Premium Times said Friday morning that he was granted bail by magistrate Abdulwahab Mohammed of the Kubwa Grade 1 Magistrate Court in Kubwa, Abuja.
The company’s lawyer had sought for the journalists’ bail which Mohammed granted. The bail condition that Ogundipe pays N500,000 and provide a surety who is resident withing the court’s jurisdiction was met.
