JUST IN: Police arrest owner of tanker that caused Otedola bridge fire
Homicide detectives from the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti Yaba, assigned to investigate the fire incident that occurred along Lagos/Ibadan expressway by Otedola bridge on June 28, have arrested the truck owner, Hassan Yusuf Maiwake.
The fuel truck, with registration number NSR 888 YQ, lost control and spilled its content, leading to an explosion that engulfed 56 vehicles. Several persons died in the incident.
The owner of the truck, Hassan Maiwake, a resident of Kano state, was arrested on Thursday (yesterday).
Police say he is helping to locate the fleeing driver of the ill-fated truck.
Lagos State Police Commissioner, Edgal Imohimi, said the Command will do all it can to help families who lost their beloved ones in the accident by ensuring that anyone found culpable is brought to book.
DNA test to ascertain the true identities of the charred remains of the victims is ongoing, police say.
