Just In: NIN-SIM Linkage: NCC Announces Final Deadline Date In September
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has just revealed the final deadline for the process of NIN-SIM linkage.
The NCC has said that, after September 14, 2024, mobile lines not yet linked will be disconnected.
It said this in a statement released on Wednesday.
The Commission has now mandated all mobile network operators (MNOs) to ensure the completion of all mandatory verification and linkage of SIMs to NINs before this deadline.
153 million SIMs have been successfully linked to a NIN, the NCC announced..
It noted that the figure shows a marked rise in compliance with the exercise.
According to the Commission, it is “reflecting an impressive compliance rate of 96 percent, a substantial increase from 69.7 percent in January 2024.”
Mobile telecommunications companies like MTN had come under the wrath of subscribers on the eve of the just concluded #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests for having their lines disconnected.
These subscribers, will now have the opportunity to do the needful and avoid disconnection after the deadline.
More details on this development will be released as news unfolds…..
