INEC declares Oyetola winner of Osun gubernatorial election

APC’s Gboyega Oyetola has been declared winner of the governorship election in Osun State by INEC after Thursday’s re-run.

The returning officer, Prof. Joseph Fuwape, declared that Oyetola won the election by scoring a total number of 255,505 votes while PDP’s Senator Ademola Adeleke polled 255,023 votes.

The result of the rerun which held in seven polling units were announced as:

Oyere: APC – 126; PDP – 2.

Olode: APC – 283; PDP – 15.

Osi: APC – 172 votes; PDP 21.

Ifon, Orolu: APC – 111; PDP – 3.

Gbogbo, Orolu: APC – 41; PDP – 64.

Osogbo: APC – 299; PDP – 165.

In total, APC scored 1,160 to beat the PDP which scored 325 in the rerun.

Adeleke had said he was going to court to reclaim his mandate.
