IGP Egbetokun Warns Plateau Killers: “Your Days Are Numbered”

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has issued a stern warning to the perpetrators behind the recent wave of killings in Plateau State, declaring that their reign of terror is nearing its end.

During a high-level visit to the state on Tuesday, the police chief vowed that those responsible for the violence would soon face swift justice, promising what he described as “the surprise of their lives.”

“Their days are numbered,” Egbetokun said firmly, addressing a crowd that included local leaders and security operatives. “We condemn in the strongest possible terms these acts of violence. The severity of these incidents and their impact on farming communities in Plateau State cannot be overstated.”

The IGP’s visit comes amid a troubling spike in deadly attacks across Plateau, where over 100 lives have been lost in just the last two weeks. The violence has not only devastated communities but also disrupted agricultural activity, a key part of the region’s economy.

Egbetokun also used the platform to urge citizens to reject ethnic profiling, stressing that crime should never be tied to tribal identity.

“Criminals must be dealt with as criminals. They don’t have tribes—they are just criminals,” he stated. “Let us unite to confront these threats together, not divided by ethnicity or suspicion.”

His message was clear: national unity and a strong, apolitical approach to crime are essential if peace and security are to be restored in Plateau and beyond.
