I will deploy 30,000 security operatives to Zamfara within a month if elected – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar has promised to bring an immediate end to killings of locals in communities in Zamfara State by armed bandits if elected into office.

The PDP presidential candidate said Friday morning that he would deploy no lesser than 30,000 security operatives to the state to ensure protection of lives and properties.

Atiku said he would do that within a month of being sworn in.

“I will send a combined force of 30,000 soldiers and policemen to stay in Zamfara to make sure that the bandits you see today, you will see no more.

“When elections took place in Ekiti and Osun States, President Buhari sent 30,000 policemen and soldiers there. I’m assuring you that it is more important for me to secure your lives and property than it is for me to secure political power for my party,” he added.

Attacks on communities in the state has continued in the past week, with reports putting casualty figures at around 100.

State governor Abdulaziz Yari had said yesterday that he was in support of a declaration of State of Emergency.

“I am also in support of the declaration of state of emergency if it will save the lives of people of the state,” he said.
