“I took him to a herbalist and he refused to help me” – Man who killed pastor in Abia

The suspect arrested for killing a pastor in Abia State, Prosper Peter Okwandu, has confessed that he killed Kelechi Iwuanyanwu for refusing to help him.

Prosper, himself an Evangelist, said he had taken Iwuanyawu to a herbalist when the deceased had challenges with gaining church congregation.

He claimed Iwuanyawu refused to reciprocate the gesture when business began to boom.

Prosper recruited three other accomplices and attacked Iwuanyawu, the founder of Winds of Glory Ministry, Umuahia, at his Umuobia Housing Estate residence in the early hours of October 14.

Two other victims – Iwuanyawu’s alleged mistress and Woman Leader in the church, Ruth Eze and Kalu Ikeagwu, the assistant pastor – were also killed.

“When his ministry was not doing well, he approached me for help and I took him to a native doctor in Ikare, Ondo state, who prepared a charm for him,” Prosper said.

He said the gang laid ambush in front of Iwuanyanwu’s residence around midnight.

“As soon as he came back and opened the gate, the boys went into the apartment, where they matcheted the three of them to death,” he said.

Prosper, however, said he had no intention of killing his childhood friend, as his plan was only to dispossess him of his valuables. But one of his accomplices claimed he had been recognised by the people with Iwuanyawu.
