Hurling of stones at security operatives considered a firearm – Donald Trump
United States President Donald Trump has said throwing of stones at security operatives could be considered a firearm.
Trump said he hoped it wouldn’t get to a point where the US military would be forced to shoot at migrants.
“Anybody throwing stones, rocks…we will consider that a firearm, because there’s not much difference when you get hit in the face with a rock,” he said.
A number of Shi’ite protesters were killed by operatives of the Nigerian Army in Abuja on Saturday and Monday, following clashes that saw the Shi’ites hurling stones and other objects at the soldiers.
Many Nigerians adjudged the Army’s approach as extreme and needless, while many others opined that the protesters were out of line.
President Muhammadu Buhari didn’t publicly address the crisis which lasted three days.
