How Does Donald Trump Manage To Stay Relevant?
August 15, 2016
From not wanting to be president, to actually running for president and now calling President Obama the founder of ISIS and Hilary Clinton, the co-founder, Donald Trump has been on a roll.
Everyone’s been asking how Donald Trump became the Republican candidate for President of the United States.
The man, before this, had little to no political background. He even in 1987 said he didn’t want to be the president. He is perceived by many to have a record of ‘bad behaviour’, but what has changed?
How is he managing to stay relevant?
What lessons can we, learn from Donald Trump?
Here are a few:
- Be dogged and consistent with your brand. Donald Trump is known to be a trouble maker and he stuck with and built a brand around it. Be steady, switching your brand up on your target audience only makes you seem confused and unstable.
- Exploit the power of social media. Donald Trump has built majority of his following on social media. By bypassing the traditional media, he has made viral statements and actions.
- Clarity and Precision should be your watchword. Donald Trump’s message is clear, he wants to “make America great again”. It’s better to make your message as simple as possible to avoid losing your audience to confusion due to different embellishments in your message.
- Take a stand. Making your stance on certain issues shows your audience that there is more to you than meets the eye. It shows them your personality.
- Target your audience. Involve them in your process; it makes them feel like they’re a part of something bigger than themselves. It gives them that emotional attachment. Donald Trump targets his audience with every statement he makes or stunt he pulls. All of his actions are strategic.
